I am a proud Zimbabwean, born and trained in Zululand, South Africa. I
give thanks to all of the ancestry that carried me to this present
moment — African, Hawaiian, Scottish, Portuguese, Spanish and French.
I live on, and feel welcomed by, Wadawurrung Country. I acknowledge that
I hold no formal permission to be on Country, and I pray for the day my
children, born on Country, may be witnessed as people of Country — not by
blood, but by birthplace.
To the Elders, brothers, sisters and children of this place — those of
the past, the present, and those still to come; those who are of Country,
for Country and with Country — I offer sorrow, praise, respect and
strength.
And to everyone who comes to this work: you are welcome here in the
fullness of who you are — every neurology, every gender, every way of
being.
